As part of Team STOSS, Future Ground asked multidisciplinary teams to envision responsive, flexible hybrid design-policy systems to address the New Orleans’ supply of underutilized vacant land.
Future Ground’s events took place over a nine month period, and brought together local and national policymakers, designers, scholars, and professionals with diverse backgrounds.
New Orleans’ dearth of statistically land-intensive, middle-wage job opportunities can be associated with a city-wide scarcity of available parcels over one acre in size. With NORA as a proactive coordinator of assembly opportunities, beginning with publicly-owned vacant parcels and NORA’s own inventory, businesses previously underserved by the New Orleans land market can begin to develop in the city.
