Clarksdale Collegiate Public Charter School in Clarksdale, Mississippi, is a two phased project, expanding an existing school to grow to a full kindergarten through 6th grade curriculum. Phase 1 of the project focused on the renovation of their existing building, and the construction of a new building to support the addition of the new grade levels. The new L-shaped structure is positioned around the former school to create more safe, enclosed areas for play. The facade uses playful rooflines to respond to their original building, referenced again in the library, which serves as the focal point of the project.
